KTM’s Latest Promotions

KTM North America, the US division of the global off-road bike manufacturer, recently announced two promotions from within the company that are a promising look to the future, and an exciting move for fans of the brand and their racing teams.

Both promotions come from within the Red Bull KTM motocross program.

Roger DeCoster, the overseer of the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing AMA Supercross and Motocross team in the United States, has signed a multi-year agreement to take on a senior position as Motorsports Director KTM/Husqavarna North America – as well as strategic involvement with KTM and Husqavarna’s racing activities in the US.

The second promotion announced is Ian Harrison, often described as DeCoster’s “right hand man” in the Red Bull KTM program. Harrison is moving into the role of Team Manager for Red Bull KTM MX/SX, as well as Technical Director of KTM/Husqavarna in the United States.

The two men, both individually and as a team, have been instrumental in the growth and success of KTM, including bringing on talented riders who represent the brand – and win championships!

These massive promotions show KTM’s commitment to excellence, and their desire to keep top talent in house. Both Harrison and DeCoster have proven to be integral members of the team, with a vast knowledge of the industry and years of experience within the company. Moving them up the ladder to these new positions ensures that they can continue to offer leadership and wisdom, and that the departments they are taking over remain in good hands.

KTM Off-Road’s Vice President, Robert Jonas, had glowing things to say about both men:

“Having Roger and Ian as the solid backbone of our supercross and motocross division in the United States has paid back so much to the company. Believing and backing those guys the best way we can has allowed for some superb success in some of the biggest and most competitive motorcycle racing series. Keeping them as part of the family and depending on their experience and wisdom was very important to us, so I’m really pleased to be talking about this new contract. I want to congratulate Ian, he is now leading the Red Bull KTM team and this is the least he deserves after so much work and dedication over the years. We will continue to plan and, hopefully, continue to reach our goals on American soil.”

Both Harrison and DeCoster have been a critical part of the KTM legacy over the last decade, and with these new positions, they will have even more capability to bring KTM/Husqavarna, their teams, and the rest of the KTM brand toward a bright future.
